HOW FAR MUST A MAN GO TO REGAIN HIS PEACE OF MIND? WHAT IF THE ANSWER WAS A HUNDRED LIGHT YEARS AWAY? |
|
Breckin Draycie, head of interstellar technologies for an empire, is slowly going mad. Though his fiancee is dead three years, his entanglement with the shapeshifting priestesses of Pygras has not been severed, sending him into an obsession over a backwoods planet that might be the source of the transformative talent, and a possibility that he could break his doomed connection with a spirituality robbing him of a stable mind. His best hope lay in the only priestess who can’t shapeshift. But remembrances of his fiancee are soon replaced by pictures of Genika’s luxurious red hair, mind-stealing legs, and a smile like the dawn of day. Priestess Genika Tallay receives a telepathic message from her companion-spirit in the Second Universe: Everyone will soon die. The other person to receive the message is the too-handsome Director Breckin Draycie, and he doesn’t seem all that together in the sanity department. When the director steals a spaceship and plucks her from her temple, she’s given no choice but to accompany him to some barely noted planet in the Sol system, a world set for self-destruction with weapons they don’t understand. Genika prays she can reach some vestige of reason in the director, her virtual kidnapper, before they’re lost in uncharted space forever or lose their lives on an alien world. Even the emperor, a lifelong friend unfamiliar with failure, would be lost to find them where Breckin planned to take them ... *** |
